The challenge
The Healthy Lifestyle Solutions program is about knowhow and solutions which empower people to adopt a lifestyle that promotes good health. Good health is an important asset. It enables us to enjoy life to the full and increases our general resilience. Health is not merely a matter of the body. A holistic approach to good health involves both mental and physical aspects. It includes having healthy and caring relationships, as well as living in a healthy environment. The goal of this Partnership Program is to develop knowledge and innovative solutions that empower people to adopt a healthy lifestyle by changing the way they live in a sustainable way. The focus of the program lies on the lifestyle aspects:
- sleeping well,
- stress and relaxation,
- healthy consumption,
- sufficient physical activity.
Budget
STW Partnership Programs foster collaboration between academic and industrial researchers. A budget of € 3,000,000 is available for this Healthy Lifestyle Solutions program. For each project, a maximum of € 750,000 in project costs can be requested from STW. The typical duration of a partnership project is between 2 and 4 years.
Who can apply?
Scientists employed by Dutch universities or paraacademic institutes eligible for STW funding can submit proposals. Project proposals should preferably involve two or more research groups from different engineering or scientific disciplines, in view of the inherent multidisciplinary character of the Program.
Two-stage submission and evaluation
The submission and evaluation process is broken down in two subsequent stages: a call for preproposals followed by a call for full proposals. Although submitting a preproposal is not mandatory, you are strongly advised to submit a preproposal so as to maximise the chances of your full proposal having a good fit with the program ambitions and scope.
Program Committee evaluation and selection
The Program Committee will evaluate the proposals regarding the scientific quality, utilisation perspective and the strategic fit of the full proposals in the program. Based on th eadvice of the Program Committee, the STW Board will decide, also on behalf of NIHC and Philips Research, on the funding of the full proposals. The Program Committee has been appointed by the STW Board. The committee consists of three industrial members from Philips and three independent, foreign expert, academic members
