Imaging agents for multimodal visualization of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) (BGT.7528)

Project nummer: bgt7528

Omschrijving van het onderzoek

The project aims to improve the detection of a preinvasive form of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Furthermore, it will also look at features indicative for early signs of invasiveness.
The research will be performed on a well validated animal model of the disease and its different stages of progression. In these animals multimodal imaging combinations will be evaluated for their ability to increase the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity. The project will focus on finding optimal imaging agent combinations for the different imaging modalities and different stages of progression. In addition the aim is to develop contrast agents that can be detected in multiple modalities. Due to the ongoing clinical breast cancer studies in the NKI-AVL, initial findings within this preclinical project may directly lead to clinical validation studies.
