Omschrijving van het onderzoek

In this project we develop seismic and electromagnetic interferometry to improve the determination of hydrocarbon reservoir parameters, in particular porosity and saturation. The sensitivity for these parameters is highest when the receivers are relatively close to the reservoir, for example in a horizontal borehole. Following the latest insights in seismic interferometry, we will develop new interferometric methods for seismic and electromagnetic multi-component data. In this way we are able to construct new seismic and electromagnetic responses with multi-component sources as well as receivers close to the reservoir, without distortions of the overburden and with better illumination and improved resolving power. The constructed responses will be used as input for integrated inversion to resolve the reservoir parameters.
