Fast tools for multi-fidelity nonlinear finite element analysis of structures (DLR.6613)
Project nummer:
dlr6613
Omschrijving van het onderzoek
In order to guarantee the safety and reliability of lightweight structures, complicated strength analysis using advanced simulation software is necessary to prevent structural failure. The methods developed in this project will both increase the reliability of the strength analysis results, and give a significant reduction in computation time, completion time, and cost of the analysis. This improves the efficiency of the design process and reduces the design cost.
Aerospace engineering, where minimum structural weight is a driving design criterion, is pre-eminently an area in which lightweight structures are applied. Well-established companies and organizations in aerospace engineering and developers/suppliers of simulation software for strength analysis are represented in the STW-User Committee.
The methods developed can be applied to the strength analysis of aircraft fuselages, aircraft wings, and launch vehicles.
