Omschrijving van het onderzoek

Today's optical storage technology is very advanced and may approach or even reach its limits in the near future. The increasing customer demands for storage capacity can only be met if the optical limits are explored and exploited. This project will develop highly sophisticated numerical modelling tools for the reading and writing process. The realisation of the models will make simulation of the complete writing process in a phase change stack possible for the first time in history. The results of the modelling will be validated experimentally.
