Fibers as safety marker in security paper (NBC.6592)

Omschrijving van het onderzoek

This proposal describes the application of new type of fibers in security paper. New materials for this application are becoming increasingly important given the availability of advanced photocopying and publishing techniques. In the first 6 months of 2003 over 230,000 falsified banknotes have been confiscated.
The aim is to apply a polymer, which has the ideal combination of unique properties and low cost. Any successful approach will consequently have immediate application in a wide variety op papers, not only banknotes but also legal papers, passports, cheques, admission tickets, brandname protection in cloth labelling, to name a few.
