Workshop Physics with Industry 2017

20 November 2017

From 20 to 24 November NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) and the Lorentz Center are organising the eighth edition of the workshop Physics with Industry (PwI). This is a workshop in which about 50 PhDs and postdocs work intensively for a week on five challenging physics problems from companies. The aim of the workshop is to create more interaction and knowledge transfer between companies and academics. This year the workshop will be held at the Lorentz Center in Leiden.

During Physics with Industry, researchers can experience how they can contribute to solving problems from industry. Companies benefit from the thinking power of young researchers, discover new talent and acquire new contacts in the academic world (partly due to the support of senior researchers during the elaboration of their problem).

Participation of companies
Companies are warmly invited to take part in the workshop by proposing a problem that the participating scientists try to solve within a week during the workshop 'Physics with Industry'. It is a unique opportunity for companies to acquire new insights, find solutions for existing problems, increase their academic network, and come into contact with young researchers. From the problems submitted, the PwI programme committee will select the five best problems and these will be tackled during the workshop. You can submit your problem by sending an email to physicswithindustry@nwo.nl. The deadline for this is Thursday 8 June 2017.

The workshop is intended for PhDs and postdocs working in fundamental and applied physics. Interested persons can register via the website of the Lorentz Center. The deadline for registering is 30 September 2017.
