Talent Scheme

The Talent Scheme is a personal grant, which offers talented, creative researchers the opportunity to research a topic of their choice, and also promotes circulation at scientific research institutions. It has three compartments: Veni (for recently graduated researchers), Vidi (for experienced researchers who have already conducted several years of research after gaining their PhD) and Vici (for senior researchers who have already demonstrated the ability to develop their own line of research).

The Talent Scheme was established by NWO, the KNAW (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences) and universities in 2000. Since then, NWO has been able to offer grants to nearly two thousand talented researchers.

Calls are issued by NWO. The NWO domain Applied and Technical Sciences (TTW, formerly Technology Foundation STW) assesses applications in the field of technological scientific research. The NWO Executive Board decides on the granting.

Vidi 2017

VENI 2019

Veni is a funding instrument from the NWO Talent Scheme. It enables scientists who recently obtained their PhD to continue their research for three years.
